Before the prohibition of cannabis in the 1920s and 30s, most major pharmaceutical companies in America offered a traditional, alcohol-based cannabis tincture. In today’s world of fast production and immediate gratification, most companies can’t wait for eight weeks while their cannabis slowly macerates in grain alcohol. Here at Whippoorwill Herb Company, we subscribe to the old herbalist’s process, and we not only embrace the eight-week maceration period, we gently shake our tinctures each day with intentional hand and affirming word.
We believe that the efficacy of our tincture is, in part, deeply related to the spirit and intentions that inspire the productive process. The art of medicine skillfully balances the technical gesture with communal spirit, desire and meaning.
The Traditional Cannabis Tincture follows the ancient herbalist recipe, using only three trusted ingredients: time, grain alcohol, and premium, organic CBD hemp flower. We process our tincture with a custom-made tincture press from Oregon.
The entire process, from the growing of the seed to the pressing of the tincture, is conducted on our Caswell County farm.
It’s recommended that the tincture droplets be taken sublingually, as some evidence shows a faster assimilation in comparison to MCT oil/concentrate-based tinctures. The tincture is absorbed through the capillaries under the tongue and goes directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the obstacles in the digestive system that prevent the CBD from being fully processed by the body.
